Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Dublin SPCA, Ireland's largest and oldest animal welfare society, was founded in 1840. Dublin SPCA's Inspectors and ambulance drivers work throughout the greater Dublin area, investigating complaints of cruelty and rescuing injured or abused animals. Two full time Inspectors investigate cases of cruelty, and two ambulances provide emergency services 365 days a year. Other staff work at the shelter caring for abused and abandoned animals and birds. The Society has a full time education department and offers talks and tours of its facilities.
