The Alaska SPCA was founded more than 4 decades ago with the belief that animals, as living creatures, are entitled to basic rights to their care, treatment, and protection.
The vision of the Alaska SPCA is for Alaska to be a state where all cats and dogs experience emotional, physical and environmental health and life-long wellness.
Our mission is to reduce the suffering of Alaska’s dogs and cats.
Since our inception, the Alaska SPCA has spayed and neutered over 100,000 dogs, cats and rabbits in our low-cost spay/neuter clinic. We believe that prevention of unplanned litters is the most direct way to prevent cruelty to animals.
Alaska SPCA also provides low-cost vaccinations and basic testing services to keep pets protected from illness and transmittable diseases.
Other ways in which we help people help animals is through humane education, our pet food bank, our Thrift Shop, and our new 2-year outreach program for Anchorage's most impoverished community that provides free spay/neuter surgeries for cats.
