Serving the island of Oahu and Honolulu, the Hawaiian Humane Society is a society was established by Helen Kinau Wilder in 1897. Wilder, a compassionate advocate for those who could not speak for themselves, was commissioned by the Republic of Hawaii to act on behalf of animals that were mistreated or abandoned. For more than 100 years we have worked to improve the welfare of animals through education, legislation and prevention of cruelty. We are a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, guided by a dedicated board of community leaders.
