It is the mission of Second Chance Animal Adoption to: Provide humane care and treatment for dogs needing protection in Boundary County and Bonners Ferry. Seek to return lost dogs to their owners. Seek suitable homes for dogs without owners. Promote an active spay and neuter program. Provide euthanasia when necessary for very sick or unadoptable dogs. At the present time, Second Chance Animal Adoption volunteers care for dogs in the city pound and in foster homes. Several times a day, volunteers walk, feed, clean, and groom those in the pound. Because the small city/county pound is within the city maintenance yard and is not staffed, we show dogs by appointment only, at the convenience of those who call. Our long-term goal is to build a staffed shelter for dogs and cats.
