Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR) was founded in 2000 by a group of caring citizens from Warren County who wanted to help animals in need. WIAR is a "NO KILL" organization. We do not euthanize any of the animals in our care unless it is medically our only option. We are 100% volunteer operated.
Western Illinois Animal Rescue is a very small organization and is currently unable to afford a shelter of our own. WIAR has what we like to call, "The Building Fund." When we receive memorials from the community they go directly into this fund along with any extra money we can come up with. Having a shelter of our own would allow us to make an impact on the lives of so many more animals in our area. We foster all of our cats and dogs in homes or at the Monmouth Small Animal Hospital. We have a strong relationship with the Warren County Animal Shelter, which is a "HIGH KILL" facility. When possible, WIAR finds homes for the animals there also. Please keep in mind that this is not always possible, due to each cat or dog's individual situation. We do our best to find homes for as many animals as possible but more help is always needed and greatly appreciated.
