As a not-for-profit, volunteer run, wildlife rehabilitation center, Abbe-Freeland Animal Sanctuary has given a second chance to hundreds of injured and orphaned wild ones since 1989. Though our primary goal is to rehabilitate and release wildlife back into the wild, sometimes the injuries the wild ones sustain render them incapable of surviving in their wild environment. If these handicapped individuals adjust well to life in captivity they become part of our public education and/or our surrogate programs. Every effort is made to provide these non-releasable wild ones with the care and surroundings in which THEY are comfortable, happy, and content. It is our hope that by sharing these special wild ones, people will come to appreciate their wild neighbors and learn to peacefully coexist with them.
