Sturgis/Meade County Animal Shelter
The Sturgis Animal Shelter is owned by the City of Sturgis and is operated by the Sturgis Police Department. The current building has been a shelter since the 1960s and has 8 inside/outside dog runs as well as two inside runs. The Police Department has a full time Animal Control Officer, who is a certified peace officer and assigned to enforce animal laws. There is also a new Shelter Technician who is available at the shelter Sunday through Thursday, now on a full-time basis.
