The Greenbrier County Animal Shelter works in conjunction with the Greenbrier Humane Society. Although housed within the same building, the Humane Society does all of the adoptions, surgeries, medications, fund raising (they are the non-profit side), and educating. The County Animal Shelter does all of the intakes/surrenders (approximately 6200 in 2006), Animal Control, cleaning, feeding, watering, building and grounds maintenance, and yes, euthanasia. However, our adoptions numbers are up to 32% this year. A far cry from previous years.
