The society was incorporated in Fresno, California, in 1946 under the laws of the State of California. The name was changed to The Central California Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals in 1958 with provisions that no other organization may use the former name, Fresno County Humane Society, Incorporated. Since the incorporation in June of 1946, The CC/SPCA has operated continuously and vigorously for the protection of animals. For 40 years the CC/SPCA has remained faithful to the objective implicit in its name: the prevention of cruelty to animals.
