Central Savannah River Area Humane Society (CSRA) is a non-profit shelter for homeless orphaned cats and dogs, serving the greater Augusta, GA area. Our shelter is no-kill with space-limited-admission. Cats live in large cageless rooms. Dogs have spacious kennels and go outside twice a day.
All pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; cats are tested for FeLV/FIV; dogs over 6 mo. are tested for heartworms; shots are current; and all pets are microchipped. Dogs are kept on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
Adoptions are held on Weds from 5:30 - 7:30 pm and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm. Our dog adoption fee is $100; the cat adoption fee is $90.
We also have volunteer opportunities. New volunteer orientation is the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, at 11am, at the shelter. Volunteers under 18 yrs old must have a parent with them for orientation and volunteering. Call the shelter for additional details.
We also have a low-cost spay/neuter program using several local veterinary clinics. Pet guardians can purchase vouchers during adoption hours. We accept cash and checks. Spay or neuter costs vary by species (cat or dog), gender, and weight of dog.
