Henry County Humane Society
The New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter is owned and operated by the Henry County Humane Society. We are a non profit 501 c 3 operating under the guidance of an eleven member volunteer board of directors.
It is our goal to match our pets with responsible pet owners, we do this with advertising in our local newspaper. We also feature a pet of the week on our local radio station WMDH 102.5 each Wednesday morning at 7:05 a.m. We have successfully placed hundreds of our pets into reputable rescue groups in and around Indiana. In order to accomplish this, we use our volunteers to transport the animals.
As the only shelter in Henry County our staff is responsible for the care of two to three hundred homeless animals each month. Our shelter has 24 inside kennels and 12 outside kennels. We have 26 cat cages. We vaccinate dogs and cats upon entry into the shelter, we disinfect daily to maintain a disease free environment. We provide vet care when necessary and when funds are available.
