Cressie Animal Refuge and Enrichment

CARE is a diverse group of business men and women with the common goal to help the animal over population problem in San Antonio. By working with the City of San Antonio's Animal Care Service, the nonprofit group CARE is able to rescue dogs and cats deemed unadoptable and place them in happy, permanent homes. Founded in 2009 by Lloyd and Peggy Brink, CARE is working to educate the community on the vital importance of becoming a foster home to save a life. By directly engaging the business community, CARE has been able to build a large foster care network that is not only saving lives but creating a trend on the importance of just opening your home temporarily to a dog or cat that deserves a second chance. While CAREs foster network is growing and serving a vital need, CARE has launched a campaign to raise $200,000 to build a one of a kind fostering facility to handle a larger number of animals. This facility will take in 50 dogs and 25 cats every 45 days, address any medical problems, train the animals in a home environment and adopt them out to loving families. CARE is also addressing the need for foster families to help with dogs and cats owned by elderly members of our community that must be hospitalized for health reasons or must temporarily live in a rehabilitation center to recover from an injury or illness. By doing this, CARE can provide safe homes for these pets and then reunite human and animal families at a later date. CARE serves a critical need to help reduce the number of unwanted pets across San Antonio. By helping support CARE through a donation, spreading the word to foster or adopt a homeless pet or spay and neuter existing pets, CARE can make a difference.
